Hunter Aims To Topple Hrgovic, Secure Shot at Fury-Joshua Winner

Heavyweight contender Michael Hunter is motivated to force his way to mandatory world title shot.

The IBF recently ordered Hunter and unbeaten Filip Hrgovic to collide in a final eliminator.

The winner of that fight would be in line to get a mandatory crack at the victor of Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua – who battle for the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO, WBC world titles in the coming months.

Hunter is giving Fury the clear edge to come away with the victory.

“It’s a very challenging fight for Anthony Joshua,” said Hunter to Sky Sports. “I see Tyson Fury edging it out.

“I actually think Anthony Joshua is a little more consistent, to be honest. If Tyson Fury feels good, I think he has enough skills to almost get off the couch and give Anthony Joshua hell any day.”

According to Hunter, he’s yet to receive a contract for the fight with Hrgovic.

He’s waiting to get the deal done – tabbing the bout as the doorway to a world title shot.

“We do know it’s a business, there’s a lot of things that go on, but I think I have the opportunity to claim what’s rightfully mine and put it out there, and shine,” Hunter told Sky Sports.

“I’ve got to this point. There’s been many factors to get here, but now I’ve put them in a mandatory position, it’s time to fight. There’s nothing else to do.”

There are some who compare Hrgovic to heavyweight great Wladimir Klitschko, but Hunter does not agree with that comparison.

“They are both big. Hrgovic doesn’t even throw a jab. He just puts his hands out. I can’t see this fight going the distance,” Hunter said.
