Special Aid to the Sports minister Kofi Asare Brako aka Abatey has disclosed the reason for the government to release money in support of Ghanaian clubs participating in the Africa.
“Because the NDC included in their campaign to help clubs in Africa, it quickly informed us to bring out a release stating our financial support for clubs participating in Africa competitions because we were in an election year.”
He also explained why Ashgold didn’t receive their share of the government money.
“Ashgold didn’t receive their share of the government money because they were kicked out early from the competition.”
“The money was due for clubs who reached the group stage of the competition unlike Asante Kotoko who pleaded for direct support from the government.”
“Nana yaw Amponsah came to meet the minister and told him the hardship the club was going through and demanded ministry give kotoko $50 000 of the money governtment promise the team when the qualify to the group stage of the Caf champion.
