Ghana was thrown into a state of dispear and grieve after eight footballers out of thirty eight returning from registration perished on the Offin river bridge after their car crashed.
The players who were colts division side Africa Vision Soccer Academy, based at Offinso met their untimely death with others sustaining several degree of injuries.
Four have been burried per Islam religious beliefs and the remaining four were laid to rest at the forecourt of the Offinsomanhene, Nana Wiafe Akenteng III and later interned.
Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah, minister of Youth and Sports delivering his speech hinted on government intention to put up an ultramodern stadium in honor of those that perished.
“Government will put up an ultramodern stadium to honor these kids so that their names will forever be remembered. It will have a room with their pictures and names in it”, hon. Asiamah.
Thousands thronged the forecourt of the Offinsomanhene Nana Wiafe Akenteng III to pay their last homage to the fallen heroes.
In attendance were the Hon. Sports minister together with Hon. Peter Opppng Twumasi, board chairman National Sports Authority and a host of GFA exco officials as well other high ranking officials.
