Great Olympics beat Bechem United to GHALCA G6

Great Olympics have won the GHALCA G6, pre-season competition, after beating 10-man Bechem United 2-0 in the final on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Goals from Razak Yussif and Adrian Ajetey powered Olympics to victory, and they will head into the new season confident that they will meet their goals.

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) organized the competition, which saw the top six teams from the previous season’s Ghana Premier League compete for the ultimate prize.

Berekum Chelsea, who finished seventh, were included because champions Asante Kotoko declined to participate due to their pre-season tour outside of the country.

Meanwhile, Hearts of Oak were eliminated after two games. They recorded no win, conceding seven goals and scoring only one.

Olympics and Bechem were in the same group and advanced to the semi-finals, where they defeated Berekum Chelsea and Medeama respectively

Bechem United won on penalties in the group stage, but the final resulted in a different outcome because Olympics were the superior team.

Yussif put the Accra-based club ahead 10 minutes before halftime, and Ajetey doubled it two minutes into the second half with a well-taken penalty.

The new season will start on Friday, September 9.
