By Ken Hissner: At the South Bank Piazza, South Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Saturday over DAZN Angelo Di Carlo (Ace Boxing) and Eddie Hearn (Matchroom Boxing) presented in the Main Event unbeaten WBO Global Super Lightweight champion Liam Paro who stopped previously unbeaten Brock Jarvis in the first round.
In the Main Event WBO Global Super Lightweight champ, No. 6 WBO and No. 2 IBF ranked southpaw Liam Paro, 23-0 (14), of Mackay, Queensland, AUST, stopped Brock Jarvis, 20-1 (18), of Sydney, AUST, at 2:29 of the first round of a scheduled 12 rounds.
In the first round, Jarvis pressed the action until a counter left hand from Paro on the chin with forty seconds to go, and Jarvis went down hard. Trying to get up, he dropped again before the referee waved it off.
Former IBF Inter-Continental and the Asia Pacific champion southpaw Demsey “The Tower” McKean, 22-0 (14), of Ipswich, Queensland, AUST, stopped WBF intercontinental champ “Big” Patrick Korte, 18-2-1 (15), of Essen, Nordrhein-West Falen, GER, at 2:59 of the third round of a scheduled ten rounds, for the vacant IBF Inter-Continental Heavyweight title.
In the third round, both fighters slugged it out until a left uppercut from McKean on the chin doubled Korte over, and McKean pushed him to the canvas. The referee counted instead of warning McKean. Korte struggled to get up when the fight was waved off by the referee.
2021 Olympian Featherweight southpaw Skye Nicolson, 5-0 (0), of Yatala, Queensland, AUST, won a lopsided decision over Krystina “Mousey” Jacobs, 6-3 (0), of Hobart, Tasmania, AUST, over 10×2 rounds for the vacant Commonwealth Council Featherweight title.
In the fourth round, Nicolson scored the lone knockdown of the fight. Scores were 100-89, 99-90, and 98-91.
Australian Super Middleweight champion Abdoulaye Sakho Mayweather, 7-1 (5), of Brisbane, Queensland, AUST, lost to WBO No. 8 ranked Cesar “El Tijuanero” Mateo Tapia, 15-0 (9), of Mexico and Narrabeen, New South Wales, AUST, over ten rounds, for the WBA Oceania Super Middle title.
In the third round, a right on the chin from Tapia rocked Mayweather. In the fourth, Tapia had Mayweather in trouble with a flurry of punches to the chin.
Scores were 99-91 and 97-93 twice. Referee Philip Holiday.
Australian Featherweight champion “King” Rocky Ogden, 3-0 (2), of Gold Coast, Queensland, AUST, stopped Ben Cameron Hands, AUST, 3-1 (1), of Brisbane, Queensland, AUST, at ten rounds, at 2:45 of the first round for the Australian Super Featherweight title.
In the first round, Ogden rocked Hands halfway through the round with a right to the chin having him in trouble. In the final thirty seconds, Ogden landed half a dozen unanswered punches before dropping Hands with a right. He struggled to beat the count when Referee Tony Kettlewell wisely called a halt.
Australian NBF Australasian Lightweight champion Jalen “The Wolf” Tait, 10-0 (6), of Townsville, Queensland, AUST, stopped Rhys Evans, 0-1 (0), of Gladstone, Queensland, AUST, in the seventh round of a scheduled eight rounds.
In the seventh round, the referee had seen enough of this lopsided and mismatched record-wise match.
Super Welterweight Dylan Biggs, 7-0 (5), of Beaudesert, Queensland, AUST, defeated Mirko Pizzi, 4-3 (4), of Italy and Sydney, New South Wales, AUST, over eight rounds for the NBF Australasian title.
