Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey signs for Swedish champions Malmo FF

Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Lmotey has joined Swedish champions Malmo FF on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

Lomotey, who helped Ghana qualify for the 2022 World Cup, was announced as a new Malmo player on Tuesday after completing a transfer from French Ligue 2 side Amiens.

The 24-year-old joined Amiens in 2020 and quickly established himself as a regular, displaying impressive performances in midfield and, on occasion, central defence.

Lomotey impressed Malmo, who had been watching him closely. They made a move and acquired him for an undisclosed sum.

“I feel great pride. Malmö FF is the biggest club in Sweden so I am happy to be here and looking forward to start training with the team,” Lomotey said.

“I think I have qualities and attributes that will help the team. The goal is to help Malmö FF win titles and play group games in Europe. Together with my teammates, we will achieve as much as we can together.”

Malmo FF director of sports, Daniel Andersson added, “Emmanuel is a player we have known for a long time but who we did not think was possible to connect with us until the last week.

He is a central midfielder and has all the qualities that we think are important for that position. He is a physical type of player who is also skilled in both the long and short passing game.”

Lomotey hopes to help Malmo retain the league title.
