    Boxing Results: Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora Defeats Carlos “Chema” Ocampo!

    By Ken Hissner: At the Dignity Health Sports Bar, Carson, California Saturday over Showtime Tom Brown and Sampson Lewcowicz presented in the Main Event WBC Interim Super World Welterweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno retaining his title over Continental Americas champion Carlos “Chema” Ocampo.

    In the Main Event WBC Interim Super World Welterweight champion southpaw Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora, 20-0-1 (13), #153 ½, of Coachella, CA, defeated Continental Americas champion Carlos “Chema” Ocampo, 34-2 (22), #153 ½, of Ensenada, Baja California, MEX, over 12 action rounds.

    In the first round Fundora controlled first minute with jab until Ocampo landed a left hook to the chin after a minute of action. In the second round Fundora had an edge though Ocampo never stopped coming forward. In the third round Ocampo landing left hooks to the chin of Fundora took the round.

    In the fourth round Ocampo opened with a combination to the body of Fundora. At the halfway point in the middle of the ring both landed punches to the delight of the fans. In the final forty seconds Fundora landed a combination to the chin with Ocampo returning a left hook to the chin.

    In the fifth round near the final minute Fundora rocked Ocampo with a left uppercut to the chin. At the bell Fundora landed a combination to the chin. In the sixth round Ocampo continued working the body of Fundora while Fundora lands left uppercuts to the chin. With just over a minute left in the round Fundora rocked Ocampo with a left to the chin.

    In the seventh round Fundora got the better of Ocampo backing him up in the final seconds with a left to the chin. In the eighth round keeping the fight in the middle of the ring Fundora allowed Ocampo to land his hare of punches mostly left hooks to the chin. In the final seconds Fundora landed a combination to the chin of Ocampo.

    After the round Referee Jack Reiss went to the corner of Ocampo urging him to throw more punches that seemed very strange for him to do.

    In the ninth round Fundora moved Ocampo into a neutral corner before Ocampo worked himself out with over hand rights to take the round from Fundora. In the tenth round at the halfway point Fundora landed a combination to the chin but got countered with a left hook to the chin from Ocampo. In the final seconds Ocampo suddenly dropped his hands to his side daring Fundora to hit him and he did with a left on the chin taking the round.

    In the eleventh round Fundora used his reach to keep Ocampo at a distance. With a minute left in the round Fundora drew blood from the lower lip of Ocampo. The referee didn’t have one clinch to break in this fight.

    In the twelfth and final round Fundora’s jab controlled the round as both fighters embraced after the bell ended the round.

    Scores were 117-111, 118-110 and 119-109 with this writer 117-111.
    WBC No. 1 contender Middleweight southpaw Carlos Adames, 22-1 (17), #159 ¼, of Santo Domingo, DR, stopped No. 6 Juan “Juanito” Macias Montiel, 23-6-2 (23), #160, of Los Mochis, Sinaola, MEX, at 2:37 of the third round of a scheduled 12 for the vacant WBC Interim title.

    In the first round it was all Adames with Montiel hardly landing a punch. In the second round Adames again easily took the round with Montiel at times turning southpaw with no success. In the third round Adames had Montiel out on his feet landing over a dozen unanswered punches starting with a right hook almost dropping Montiel before Referee Ray Corona wisely called a halt.

    In a rematch IBF World Super Fly champion Fernando “Pumita” Martinez, 15-0 (8), #114 ¾, of Bueno Aires, ARG, retained his title defeating 2020 Olympic Bronze Medalist and former IBF World Super Fly champion southpaw Jerwin “Pretty Boy” Ancajas, 33-3-2 (22), #114 ¾, of Panabo City, PH, over 12 rounds.

    The first two rounds were split with Ancajas taking the second round. In the third round Martinez rocked Ancajas with a right to the chin halfway through the round. In the fourth rounds last forty seconds they exchanged punches to the chin one after another with Martinez taking the round.

    In the fifth round Ancajas had an edge while Martinez had a big sixth round. In the seventh round due to a clash of heads Ancajas suffered a cut on his forehead losing the round. In the eighth and ninth round Martinez countered the oncoming Ancajas driving him into the ropes at the end of the ninth round with a right on the chin.

    In the tenth and eleventh rounds Martinez had an edge going to the canvas in the eleventh due to legs getting tangled. In the twelfth and final round Martinez ended it like the champion he is getting the better of Ancajas.

    Scores were 119-109 twice and 118-110. Referee Edward Hernandez, Sr. This writer 117-111.

    Welterweight Egidijus “Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas, 23-2-1 (18), #147, of Lithuania and Camarillo, CA, defeated southpaw Mykal “The Professor” Fox, 22-4 (5), #145 ¾, of Upper Marlboro, MD, over 10 rounds scoring a pair of knockdowns in round 3.

    Scores 99-89, 98-90 and 100-88. Referee Gerald White.

    Lightweight Justin Cardona, 8-1 (4), #132 ½, of Salinas, CA, lost by majority decision to Angel Rebollar, 6-1 (3), #132 ½, of 132 ½, CA, over 6 rounds.

    Scores were 58-56, 59-55 and 57-57. Referee Jack Reiss.

    Featherweight southpaw Viktor Slavinskyi, 13-2-1 (6), #126 ½, of Mykolaiv, UKR and Los Angeles, CA, lost split decision to Edward Vazquez, 13-1 (3), #129 ½, of Ft. Worth, TX, over 8 rounds.

    Scores were 77-75 and 79-73 for Vazquez and 78-74 Slavinskyi. Referee Ray Corona.

    Super Welterweight Brandyn “Bad News” Lynch, 12-1-1 (8), #156, of Los Angeles, CA, knocked out Roque Agustin Junco, 11-13-1 (6), #155 ¼ , of San Francisco, Cordoba, ARG, at 0:44 of the third round of a 8.

    Referee Edward Hernandez, Sr.

    Middleweight southpaw Elijah Lorenzo Garcia, 12-0 (10), #163, of Phoenix, AZ, knocked out Edgar Valenzuela, 7-2 (6), #163, of Agua Prieta, Sonora, MEX, at 2:00 of the first round of a 6. Referee Gerald White.

    Flyweight Gabriela Fundora, 9-0 (4), #111 ¼, of Coachella, CA, defeated Naomi “La Chapita” Arellano Reyes, 9-2 (5), #111 ½, of Tepic, Nayrit, MEX, over 10×2 rounds.

    Scores were 99-91 twice and 98-92. Referee Edward Hernandez, Sr.
    Middleweight southpaw Eumir Felix Marcial, 3-0 (1), #161 ¼, of Zamboanga City, PH, defeated Steven Pichardo, 8-3-1 (2), #161 ½, of Gardena, CA, 4 rounds.

    Scores were all 60-54. Referee Gerald White.
