Derek Chisora Frontrunner For Tyson Fury Fight On Dec.3rd

By Charles Brun: Journeyman Derek Chisora is reportedly the frontrunner to challenge Tyson Fury for his WBC heavyweight title on December 3rd in Cardiff, Wales. The 38-year-old Chisora has a 1-3 record in his last four fights and is ranked #14 WBC, which makes him a textbook version of a fringe contender.

Fury’s negotiations with Anthony Joshua fell apart after he attempted to rush the fight by setting up two deadlines. Whatever chances there were of that fight taking place collapsed after Fury chose to stick his fingers into the pie and rush it.

If you were to choose the absolute worst contender for Fury to fight, Chisora would be the one that many would select, as he’s looked dreadfully poor & slow in his last four contests. Whatever ability Chisora once had, it’s gone now, having sapped away by age & ring wear.

Fury beat Chisora twice in one-sided fights many years ago, which makes it even more ridiculous that he’s on the verge of fighting him a third time.

It’s unknown why Fury would want to stoop to the level of fighting Chisora because it’s a godawful fight on paper, and many true contenders are more deserving of a title shot than him.

Fury choosing to scrape the bottom of the barrel to pick Chisora suggests that he’s worried about losing or absorbing punishment against one of these more deserving contenders:

    • Frank Sanchez
    • Joe Joyce
    • Filip Hrgovic
    • Arslanbek Makhmudov
    • Zhilei Zhang
    • Martin Bakole

Derek Chisora has emerged as the shock frontrunner to fight Tyson Fury later this year,” said the Telegraph Sport. “The two heavyweights have agreed to terms to a world title fight in Cardiff, following the collapse of Fury’s £200 million bout with Anthony Joshua.

Chisora looked horribly bad, winning a questionable 12 round split decision over 41-year-old Kubrat Pulev last July in London. Derek looked glacially slow in terms of hand speed & movement, and he appeared very, very tired after just three rounds.

It’s hard to believe that Chisora continues to get high-level fights because if he were from the U.S, he likely would be buried at the bottom of cards by the promoters because he’s not a relevant heavyweight. Many other fighters rate a title shot more than Chisora.
